This is basically where I left off in class yesterday. I have done a bit to Rachel's hair by darkening it with light umber on the left side. I have added some burnt ocher to both sides.
I became an artist thanks to fibromyalgia. For two years I was so sick all I could do was sit in a chair or lie in bed and draw. I was so weak I would be breathless walking across a room. I lost 30 pounds. My lowest weight was 98 pounds. By a stroke of luck I met R. Paul St. Amand M.D., Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine, Harbor UCLA, on line www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com He and his medical assistant, Claudia Marek, worked with me on line for weeks to help me get started on Dr. St. Amand’s guaifenesin protocol for the reversal of FMS. I didn’t know it at the time but they were worried I would die before I would get well. I was that sick.
I have been on Dr. St. Amand’s protocol for thirteen years now. Since starting I have gone back to work as a pediatric occupational therapist, wrote a complicated and long textbook chapter for an editor friend, started two businesses and retired from one. Now I continue my dream, the pursuit of art. If not for FMS I would have never been forced to sit down and practice my skills and I would never have become brave enough to share it with the world on line.
